Who you are
You’re a lifelong learner that has a way with words. You’re detail oriented with exceptional writing and editing skills. You don’t just know your way around a sentence, though; you also have a keen understanding of how to adapt your writing voice according to project needs. Obviously, you’re a great communicator, but you’re also capable of (and comfortable with) presenting and explaining your work to project teammates in a clear manner. Organization is a strength and you’re a pro with desktop publishing software, such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office. You have experience working as a freelancer, which enables you to be flexible with the ebbs and flows of custom projects. When it comes to your work, you’re a self-starter who’s able to work independently, you search out answers to your questions, and you execute with exceptional quality.
What you’ll be doing
- Writing outlines, storyboards, and scripts for learning experiences (eLearning courses, vILT, resources, etc.)
- Researching and synthesizing a variety of source materials, such as project briefs, training slide decks, client-provided documents, marketing brochures, journal articles, standard operating procedures, and client feedback to inform instructional content
- Implementing revisions to your written content based on constructive feedback from other project team members and considering how those revisions may impact the entire learning experience
- Managing your time in order to meet project milestones and deadlines for your projects
- Taking ownership of your tasks and keep the project team updated on progress through proactive communication
Talents we’re looking for
- Prior experience in instructional design, business communication, journalism, editing, technical writing, or similar
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and methodologies
- Experience working with eLearning authoring tools like Rise 360 and Storyline 360 by Articulate
- Knowledge of various writing style guides, especially Chicago Manual of Style and AP
- Excellent time-management and communication skills
- Comfort using Google Workspace and other digital collaboration tools
- An average of 20-hour a week availability when active on projects
- Availability during EST business hours preferred
- Prior agency experience is a plus
- Bonus if you have a background in writing about technical concepts such as finance, law, or the medical field
