Who you are

Not only do you have a passion for writing, but your medical background and experience have also provided you with confidence and established expertise in medical writing as applied to learning solutions. You’re a detail-oriented individual with exceptional writing and editing skills. In addition to being a great written communicator, you’re also capable of (and comfortable with) presenting and explaining your work and complex medical concepts in a clear manner to team members. When it comes to your work, you’re willing to learn and follow strict formatting guidelines to apply instructional design strategies to course material. You’re super organized, and you’re a pro with desktop publishing software such as Google Docs and Microsoft Office. And you’re not just happy to work in a collaborative team environment—you thrive in one. 

What you’ll be doing with the Instructional Design team

  • Serve as medical writing lead with the project team
  • Write the outline, storyboard, and scripts for learning solutions
  • Research and synthesize a variety of source materials, such as project briefs, marketing brochures, journal articles, standard operating procedures, and client input to inform instructional content
  • Implement revisions based on constructive feedback from other project team members
  • Meet project milestones and deadlines

Talents we’re looking for

  • AMWA Certification or similar medical writing certification
  • Bachelor’s degree or greater in communications, education, English, health, life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, science, writing, or a related field
  • Extensive experience writing about life sciences, including pharmaceutical and medical devices
  • Thorough knowledge of clinical-research concepts, practices, and regulations 
  • Experience with clinical research and medical writing standards with a demonstrated ability to interpret and apply these guidelines to document writing
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines, medical / scientific / disease-state terminology, guidance associated with scientific publications, statistical concepts and techniques, and clinical operations
  • Prior experience in instructional design, business communications, journalism, editing, technical writing, or similar
  • Familiarity with adult-learning principles and methodologies
  • Knowledge of various writing style guides, especially The Chicago Manual of Style
  • Excellent time-management skills and prompt communication
  • Comfort using Google Workspace and other digital collaboration tools
  • Availability during EST business hours preferred
  • Prior agency experience is a plus
