Account Manager

Job Description

Who we are

Maestro is a learning innovation company. Our purpose is to do good in the world by inspiring positive change through learning that empowers and inspires. We hire talented humans who are aligned with our purpose and truly care about the needs of our clients and everyone around them.

Who you are

You love people, and are energized by building new relationships and serving clients as a trusted partner. You thrive in dynamic environments and are a critical thinker, able to tailor your approach and respond knowledgeably to clients. You are informed and confident in sharing how your organization’s offerings can solve problems and create meaningful impact. You enjoy building new connections, deepening relationships with stakeholders, and proactively seeking out opportunities to serve clients and grow accounts.

You are skilled at collaborating with internal team members and clients to understand business objectives, cast a vision, apply strategic frameworks to shape a solution, and lead the team as the work is executed. You can advocate for the client while protecting Maestro’s best interests, partnering with Project Managers and your Leader to deliver projects on time, within scope, and on budget.

You are competitive and eager to grow, with exceptional communication skills and high emotional intelligence that helps you excel at working alongside internal and external teams.

What you’ll be doing on the Strategy team

The primary focus of this role is on account growth, in collaboration with the Sr. Account Strategist. Together, you will form a team responsible for nurturing relationships and expanding your portfolio by creating an incredible client experience that promotes retention, as well as proactively seeking out opportunities to grow the number of contacts, breadth of work, and dollar volume within your accounts.

You will pursue account growth through two primary means, with the priority shifting based on the needs of the business:

  • Identifying and nurturing relationships to develop new business opportunities: With the support of the Sr. Account Strategist, you will develop and execute proactive strategies to grow your portfolio of accounts. This includes:
    • Prospecting within current accounts to grow the number of projects, reach new contacts, and expand the breadth of capabilities we deliver
    • Pursuing new accounts by nurturing inbound leads, networking at trade shows and events, sending email sequences to targeted accounts, and other strategies and tactics that you and the Sr. Account Strategist will work to identify
    • Presenting capabilities and sharing work examples to prospective clients, uncovering and shaping project opportunities that solve client problems, and leading the creation of proposals
    • Engaging with clients knowledgeably, confidently, and dynamically to create an incredible first impression and create interest in Maestro
    • Managing the internal tasks associated with the sales cycle and new projects, including crafting estimates and Statements of Work, and managing deals and contacts in our CRM, Hubspot
  • Retain clients by facilitating a stellar client experience throughout the project: Depending on project type, you will lead projects both independently and with others. You will serve the day-to-day account management function, ensuring that we’re leading as strategic partners and delivering on Maestro’s high standard of quality. This includes:
    • Leading ongoing project activities in collaboration with the Project Manager such as status meetings, internal reviews, client reviews, brainstorms, and work sessions
    • Sharing updates, adding builds, and providing feedback to the team through clear, comprehensive communication (most often via Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, the Google Suite, and email)
    • Continually seeking to deepen trust and strengthen the partnership by contributing strategically throughout the engagement and ‘surprising and and delighting’ clients
    • Getting to know key champions—gaining a thorough understanding of the business needs, motivations, and pain points

Talents we’re looking for

  • 3-5 years of experience developing relationships with new clients, expanding business within accounts, and partnering closely with clients to deliver a positive experience
  • Ability to understand project requirements and goals, translate that to Maestro capabilities and processes, and cast a vision to build buy-in
  • Confidence in negotiating with and driving alignment among external stakeholders
  • Heart to serve and advocate for the client while balancing Maestro’s best interests
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a high emotional intelligence and awareness
  • Creative thinker and discerning problem solver, able to “connect the dots” quickly between disparate problems or solutions
  • Bonus if you have experience in a service firm, in a consulting role, or in a related Learning & Development role

The perks

  • Base salary: We take your experience and talent level into great consideration
  • Compensation package: Medical, dental, life insurance and 401k
  • Work/Life Balance: Maestro takes pride in the incredible work ethic of our employees. Instead of a traditional vacation and/or sick leave policy, you have the freedom to take as much leave as you need. Time off is yours to enjoy when you like so long as you follow a few courtesies to ensure we are all playing by the same rules and looking out for each other.
  • Remote First: Maestro recognizes that great talent and great work comes from any geography. Though there may be times and projects that require being in our headquarters, our team is free to work remotely. We ensure you have the tools and resources to do your best work, wherever that might be from.

We believe that creating an inclusive workplace helps us create better work

Maestro is committed to making diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging a part of everything we do — from our employee experience to how we engage with our clients, users, and our community. Regardless of gender, gender identity, race, disability, veteran status, religion, sexual orientation, ancestry, national origin, age, or marital status, we firmly believe that our work is at its best when everyone feels free to be their most authentic self.
