At Maestro, we believe that when learning is intentionally designed to empower and inspire, amazing things can happen. The foundation of every learning experience we create is a strategic combination of creativity and the science of how people learn—and we’ve put in the work to perfect our approach.

After years of experimenting, honing our craft, and recognizing patterns in human behavior, we’ve identified a set of foundational beliefs, our Learning Principles, that shape our work. They’re based on the fundamental truth that learning is so much more than conveying subject matter: it’s about understanding people and how they learn.

LEARNING EXISTS TO CREATE CHANGE

It’s the foundation for everything we do at Maestro: we create learning that drives real behavior change. It’s not about getting learners to memorize content—it’s about empowering learners to grow their skills and abilities. We believe that growth and outcomes can and should be measured and not just with self-assessments or graded quizzes. We define what success looks like at the start of every project, giving us a guiding light for achieving sustainable change.

LEARNING IS A PROCESS

We never take a one-and-done approach to learning. Our strategy is influenced by the four phases of the learning process: discovery, planning, application, and reflection. From there, we innovate, strategize, and design a customized learning experience. Our goal is to bridge the gap between formal learning and reality by helping learners practice, apply, and reflect on what they’ve learned. This process is key to driving real behavior change.

LEARNING SHOULD MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE

Rather than making one-size-fits-all assumptions, we holistically look at the contexts and backgrounds of our audience. Learner research helps us understand what learners already know, the challenges they’re currently facing, and how they learn best. Once we truly understand what will resonate, we can determine the right content, format, and frequency to deliver a thoughtful and nuanced learning experience. Learners come from different backgrounds and life circumstances, and whenever possible, we believe that learning solutions should be designed to fully support the needs of all people.

Well-designed experiences resonate better. We put care into everything we design, because we know, as learners ourselves, that it directly shapes the way we think and feel about the experiences we consume. Learners deserve an experience that performs beautifully and empowers them to do the same.
